چکیده
Abstract Case Report A 42–year–old woman was carried to emergency room lamenting sudden memory loss. Her husband witnessed the onset of episode. No recent head trauma reported, blood pressure under control. Anterograde and retrograde loss present confirmed by a neurologist. other neurological signs were elicitable. Blood exams toxicological analysis negative. ECG, chest radiography, cerebral TC showed no abnormalities. At physical examination carotid bruit could be appreciated. The patient asymptomatic. Subsequently an eco–colour–Doppler artery performed showing left common internal dissection. diagnosis ICA dissection with contrast CT furthermore excluding coexistence aortic anterograde amnesia resolved 15 h after admission. neurologist that experimented episode transient global amnesia. After vascular surgery consultation, conservative treatment deemed appropriate. 6 month follow up didn’t complain any symptom or sign. Transient (TGA) is characterized reversible resolves spontaneously within 24 h. pathophysiological mechanisms underlying this puzzling syndrome are yet not completely clarified. Some studies support ischemic aetiology for TGA cases following ICA–stenting involvement supra–aortic branches reported in literature, thus supporting hypothesis cause–effect relationship between pathologies trunks might present. In case here presented, Doppler ultrasound arteries presenting TGA, asymptomatic neck pain, led order miss spontaneous as rare ethology we suggesto perform epi–aortic vessels patients affected such amnesic syndrome.

متن کاملTransient Global Amnesia: A Case Report
INTRODUCTION Transient global amnesia is a syndrome of temporary and reversible disruption of short-term memory accompanied by repetitive questioning. Although the etiology is unknown, the prognosis usually benign, and no particular treatment is required, it is important for all involved clinicians to recognize the diagnosis and possess knowledge about the evaluation of these affected patients....
متن کاملTransient global amnesia: an extensive case report.
A case of transient global amnesia was studied in detail. Of note was a temporally extensive, although quite patchy, retrograde amnesia during the event for information recallable at other times. While a consolidation block can explain the anterograde amnesia in transient global amnesia, the profound retrograde amnesia requires an additional block in the retrieval of old, established memories.
متن کاملA rare case of aortic dissection presenting as pure transient global amnesia.
Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a well-described neurological phenomenon. Clinically, it manifests with the sudden onset of a paroxysmal, transient loss of anterograde memory and disorientation but with intact consciousness. Typically, symptoms last for only a few hours. We present an unusual case of aortic dissection presenting with pure TGA in a patient, who had a positive outcome. This is ...
متن کاملTransient global amnesia or transient epileptic amnesia?
Sir, We read with great interest the letter of McCorry and Crowley concerning an attack of transient global amnesia (TGA) considered secondary to herpes simplex viral encephalitis. Some features of the reported attack are unusual. The patient was a relatively young person: 39 years compared with an average age of 61 with TGA. At the beginning the patient suddenly became ‘distressed’; he realize...
